Step by Step Guide to create MailChimp Signup form-
To get started with MailChimp the first thing you need to have is a free MailChimp account. To create a MailChimp account follows the steps below.
#1 Visit the MailChimp website and click on “Signup Free” button. (Follow Screenshots)
Here you need to enter your email and create a username and password for your account. Once you are signed in you will be redirected to your MailChimp dashboard.
#2 Creating your First email list-
Here the first thing you need to set up email lists. In your MailChimp dashboard button and click on “Create a List” button.
Now you need to provide some information like-
Name of Your email list- i.e. XYX Newsletter
Email Address- Where a user can reply to i.e. email@example.com
Default Name- Name of person or Organization
Reminder- How they got to your mail list. i.e. You are receiving this Newsletter as you have subscribed to our XYZ’s newsletter.
After entering the information click on “Save” button.
#3 Adding Mailchimp Email SignUp Forms:
Now go to the list that you have just created in your dashboard and from right drop-down arrow button click on “Create Signup Forms”.
#4 On the next page you will see many form option, now you have to select the “Embedded Forms”.
Now you will be taken to embedded form setting page. Here you will get an option to choose add custom widths or the fields you don’t wanna show on your website, you can play with the options accordingly.
When you are done simply copy the embedded code.
Now you need to add a text widget to your WordPress site. Go to your dashboard and click on Appearance-widgets. Now add a text widget to your WordPress sidebar and paste the copied code inside “Content” area.
And the signup form will look like similar to below image-
If you are using genesis theme you can make it a bit colorful by downloading a free eNews Extended plugin.
Download and activate the plugin and open it by going to Appearance- Widgets. Add eNews Extended plugin to the sidebar, now you will see many customizable options.
You can play with the options for your desired signup form but the three main things you need to edit are-
a)- Form Action-
Here you need to paste a single line code from embedded forms. Refer below pic-
Copy the embedded form code to any text editor, now in form action area only select the code that is highlighted above-
b) Email Field-
Its the Email field for your signup forms its necessary to show on your website.
c) Name Field-
If you want to show name in your signup form you can enter is as below
FNAME- First Name
LNAME- Last Name
After you are done click on “Save.”
