Here are the list of 11 essential things you should do after installing WordPress.
#1 Change the Site title, Tagline and Timezone
In your WordPress dashboard go to General Settings. Here enter your site’s title and tagline that relates to your websites. To change it simply go to Settings > General.
Now scroll down the page to update your timezone, make sure you setup your time zone to your local time because it will help you in scheduling posts.
#2 Add About and Contact us Pages
About and contact us pages are very important for any websites as it helps you to connect with your readers. You can add an about us page by going to Pages > Add New page.
A page where you describe something about you and your website with your creativity. In simple words, this page tells the readers about you, who you are, what you do and what this blog is all about.

#3 Delete Default Content
After Installing WordPress you could see a default post and a default page. You should delete these content immediately. If you don’t want to look amateurish as if you left that undeleted it will appear on your blog pages, searches, archives etc.
Go to Posts > All Posts, here you will see a post as “Hello Word”, simply delete it.
Now go to Pages > All Pages and delete “Sample Page”.
#4 Setup WordPress Permalink
To make your URL structure search engine friendly and to rank your blog posts better you need to change the structure of your permalink. You can customize the permalink structure by Going Settings > Permalinks.
The default permalink of WordPress is – http://yourdomain.com/?p=123 Now you need to change it to- http://yourdomain.com/sample-post to make it search engine friendly.

You should delete all those plugins and themes that you are not using on your site. It will improve your WordPress site performance and reduce the server load.
So have a look of plugins and themes and delete the ones you don’t use.
#8 Upload a Favicon
It’s a little icon that appears on the left of the address bar of your site.
If you want to improve your overall quality of your blog then you should consider adding a custom favicon as it does help in the branding of your WordPress site.
You can add it by going Appearance > Customize > Site Identity.
